Have you ever met someone who is exceptional at what they do? Someone who is passionate and knowledgeable about their business? We recently visited Jon at Mr. A’s out in Sultan, Washington, and got a tour of his business along with a little history about how he got to this point.Â
If you’ve ever ordered weatherstripping from a big box store and had questions, you might have run into someone on the other end of the line who may or may not be an expert. Jon is definitely at the top of the game when it comes to anything weatherstripping, felts, vent window glass, frames or handles, and he’s the guy you want to talk to regarding this subject.
I met Jon while attending C10s on the Capital. He has advertised in this magazine, but I had never met him in person. While out in the area on a family vacation, I stopped in to see what his business was all about – after all, from what I’ve seen online, Jon is the guy when it comes to keeping those trucks sealed up.
Jon has been in the automotive business over 40 years, mostly in the new car markets prior to 2020, but also hustling in the classic car and truck markets on the side. During the pandemic, Jon was laid off and had no source of income, so he decided to go back to what he was really passionate about, classic trucks. He got busy and started selling parts from trucks he found in the region. He went though hundreds of trucks, finding good, usable, sought after parts.
It took about a year, but he invested all of his funds to buying in as a Precision Replacement Parts dealer. Years later, Jon’s sales have continued to grow annually. He’s even helped the folks at Precision with development of new products, most recently for Blazers and Jimmys. In a world of big box stores who drop ship many of their orders, Mr. A’s has inventory in stock, ready to ship immediately.
We couldn’t help but notice the Squarebody he was working on in his shop, along with the K10 outside. He also has a Chevelle in the garage under some boxes, and there was weatherstripping everywhere. When you’re in the market for weather stripping for your truck or muscle car, look up Jon Addington at Mr. A’s and tell him CK Truck Mag sent you!
