When you think of ideal places for a truck show, a golf course smack dab on the beach of the Pacific Ocean would most likely seem a bit of a stretch. Don’t tell that to the all-star team who put the C10 SLO Down together, though. Just when we thought last year’s venue at the historic Madonna Inn was the coolest spot ever, they go and one-up themselves. The 2023 edition was held at the beautiful Avila Beach Golf Resort, right in the middle of California’s Central Coast area.
The mid-August weather was stunningly perfect. 75 degrees and sunny, without a cloud in the sky. As we walked through rows and rows of trucks, the sound of waves and surf in the distance provided a calming backdrop that simply added to the relaxed, and chill atmosphere. The golf course fairways provided a family-friendly space that spectators and participants enjoyed to its full potential. I saw nothing but smiling faces and happy campers all day long.Â
If you’re looking for a getaway in California, but don’t want the hustle and bustle of SoCal, the San Luis Obispo (the SLO in SLO Down), we highly recommend adding this event to your 2024 agenda. And if you want a taste of Hollywood to round out your trip, it’s just a couple hours down the coast.
