From the moment we decided on a C10, we knew we were setting out on something special. I had been searching for the perfect truck for months, scouring online listings, but it wasn’t until I came across one in Alpharetta, Georgia, that I knew we had found “the one.” What caught my eye first wasn’t just the model, but the color—a striking two-tone combination that seemed to jump off the screen. When we made the purchase, I had a vision in mind, but nothing could have prepared me for the sight of the truck in person.
I’ll never forget the day it arrived. As the truck was unloaded from the trailer, the color in the flesh was even more stunning than I had imagined. It was as if the truck had a personality of its own, one that exuded both power and elegance. From that moment, I knew we had something special on our hands. That two-tone scheme is the heart of the build and continues to turn heads at every gas station and every show we attend. It’s the kind of color scheme that doesn’t just draw attention; it demands it.
We didn’t waste any time diving into the build. Parts were ordered, plans were made, and we were ready to bring our vision to life. But trouble struck early. The initial builder we’d lined up wasn’t the right fit, and at one point, it seemed like the engine would sit in my garage forever. Frustration started to creep in. But just as I was beginning to lose hope, we found Mikey Rolleri at Salvage to Savage.
Our first meeting with Mikey and his team was a turning point. We walked into his shop, and from the moment we stepped through the door, we knew we were in the right place. It wasn’t just a garage—it was a workshop where dreams became reality. Mikey listened to our ideas, shared his expertise, and immediately began translating our vision into something tangible. We had plans to do more than just restore our C10; we wanted to transform it into a full-blown Salvage to Savage signature piece. With Mikey at the helm, we knew we could take this project to a level we’d never imagined.
Over the course of the build, Mikey and his team became more than just builders—they became family. There’s a bond that forms when you go through a project like this, and it’s one I’ll be forever grateful for. We didn’t just get a truck out of this experience; we gained a sense of community, a new family, and a deep sense of pride in what we had created.
The build wasn’t just about the truck—it was about creating something that would last. As someone who didn’t have “real” truck memories from childhood, I wanted to start a legacy for my kids. I wanted them to know that this was our first family build, something we could all share, something they could look back on and say, “That was Dad’s dream—and it’s now ours too.”
For me, this truck represents more than just metal; it’s a symbol of perseverance, vision, and legacy. Every wrench turned, every part fitted, and every detail perfected was a step closer to not just completing a project, but building something that will be a part of our family for generations to come. And when people stop to admire our C10, I don’t just think about the work that went into it—I think about the memories we’ve made along the way, the lessons learned, and the future we’re creating together.
In the end, this build is more than just a truck; it’s a testament to what happens when passion meets persistence and when you find the right team to help bring your vision to life. With Mikey and his crew by our side, we didn’t just restore a C10—we transformed it into a legacy that will carry on for years to come.
