Chris Stillwell purchased this ‘65 C10 and quickly realized its current condition made it less than roadworthy. Upon learning that his friend Shannon had recently had a similar truck (1966 C10) built by Tre 5 Customs in Peoria, Arizona, Chris contacted us to transform the truck into a reliable and regularly cruising vehicle. What began as a chassis swap evolved into a comprehensive overhaul, involving the replacement of virtually every component beneath the truck. This encompassed a new chassis, brakes, wheels and tires, fuel tank, fuel system, and all wiring. Additionally, a new engine and transmission, exhaust system, and brake lines were installed – effectively an overhaul of every aspect.
The Pac Coast Powder facility in California handled the powder coating of the chassis. Beyond the undercarriage, we also enhanced the engine compartment. Newly painted and installed Hart Fab tubs, along with an ABS Master cylinder setup, were integrated. The installation of new wiring and plumbing was carried out to accommodate the new Don Hardy engine.
At the rear, we constructed a tilting bed floor with LS Fab scissor hinges, and its lifting mechanism utilizes Dakota Digital linear actuators. The custom-cut wood for the bed was provided by Mar-K, and we skillfully trimmed it around the existing wheel tubs. The previous location of the Accuair tanks was retained, along with the existing hard lines. A sheet metal cover was fashioned to conceal the plumbing on the backside, while also serving as the mounting point for the Accuair ECU and the new gas filler.
Frank at Ikandy Paintworks painted the truck for the previous owner. During the rebuild, he also paint matched the new Hart Fab inner fenders. The entire paint had been done a few years ago and made its way to Saudi Arabia and back, so there are some flaws now, but it is a driver. And Chris drives the heck out of this truck. Exactly what it’s all about.
