Welcome to 2008. Every now and then we like to take a look back at the wild and wooly past of the world of GM trucks. It’s refreshing to see where we’ve come from and, in a way, it shows where we are headed. That is, if you’re a deep thinker, I suppose.
Take Mark Bosak’s ‘67. This custom short-bed pickup was a 2008 Great 8 finalist at the Detroit Autorama and took First Place at America’s Most Beautiful Roadster show in 2009. It’s laid out on an Art Morrison chassis with a narrowed Ford 9-inch rear end and powered by a potent-for-the-time 350ci ZZ4 crate engine with a Weiand 144 series supercharger, while a 4-speed automatic transmission puts the power to the rear end.
The interior features a custom one-off steering wheel to match the custom billet Jimmy Dean Gasser wheels, Italian leather seat upholstery, and door panels.
The exterior is finished in a custom two-toned metal flake candy paint job. The exterior and bed were chopped over 3-inches, and the front and rear fenders were pinched to create a smaller wheel well. The body modifications are extensive and continue with suicide doors and a completely shaved and molded body, along with flush-mount glass in the front and rear. The cowl was removed and the hood was extended to go all the way back to the windshield. A molded one-piece front end provides a seamless look while the bottom of the doors were extended to hide the rockers. The dash was smoothed and upgraded with Dakota Digital gauges, and the interior features a smoothed and painted floor inside the cab with engine-turned billet aluminum rails and wood slats to match the bed.
Take some time to look closely at the photos. The details are impeccable. Even if the styling isn’t totally up to date, it sure is fun to look at where we’ve been over the past 15 years since this truck debuted.
