Daniel Jones has breathed new life into his ‘65 C10, turning a vintage classic into a modern powerhouse. This build exemplifies the perfect marriage of retro aesthetics and contemporary performance, showcasing Daniel’s dedication to both style and engineering.
At the heart of the C10 lies a 5.3 LM7 engine, modified to deliver impressive power. The engine is equipped with a Summit Racing camshaft featuring a 222° intake and 231° exhaust duration, GM stock crank, and LS6 valve springs. Complementing this setup are GEN 4 rods and pistons, along with GM 799 heads, ensuring reliable performance.
Daniel’s hands-on approach extends to the tuning of the Holley Terminator X Max EFI system, which he calibrated himself. Custom intake piping and -06 AN braided fuel lines feed a Walbro external fuel pump, while a one-off fuel tank fabricated by Wicked Welds Custom Shop keeps the engine supplied with fuel. The wiring is neatly organized using an American Autowire Highway 22 harness, enhancing both functionality and safety.
The exhaust system features a 3-inch stainless steel setup with Black Widow Angry Housewife mufflers, expertly crafted by Wicked Welds. This is paired with Summit Racing short ram headers, creating a throaty sound that commands attention.
Power is transmitted through a 4L80E transmission, complete with a 3,000 rpm stall torque converter and a Lokar shifter. The rear end boasts a Competition Engineering D Fab 9-inch housing with Dutchman 31-spline axles and a Speedway Motors 3.73 third member, offering a perfect blend of strength and performance.
Daniel’s custom chassis, built entirely from ¼-inch steel and TIG welded by Wicked Welds, is equipped with “Nick McDonald” Ridetech shocks and a Ford Mustang steering rack. The air suspension features Slam 6 front and Slam 7 rear bags, providing an adjustable ride height for both comfort and style. Wilwood brakes ensure reliable stopping power, with 14-inch rotors and 6-piston calipers in the front and 12-inch rotors with 4-piston calipers in the rear.
The C10 rides on Precision Forged wheels, measuring 20×8.5 in the front and 20×11 in the rear, wrapped in Delinte tires (315/35R20 and 245/40R20). The exterior maintains its original paint, with 25% of the front fenders replaced due to rust. Daniel has polished the paint with Scotchbrite, leaving it without a clear coat for an authentic, vintage look.
Inside, the truck retains its original steering wheel, complemented by an Ididit steering column. Manual windows feature all new regulators, seals, and glass sourced from LMC Truck. The cabin is equipped with Dakota Digital RTX gauges for a modern touch.
For entertainment, Daniel has installed a JL Audio marine head unit CRX, along with a JL Audio 4-channel and mono amp, a single 12-inch shallow Solobaric sub, and C2 speakers, providing an immersive audio experience on the road.
Daniel Jones’ 1965 C10 is not just a vehicle; it is a testament to the art of customization and a reflection of his passion for classic trucks. With its blend of vintage charm and modern performance, this C10 is ready to conquer both the road and the shows.
