Living in Ohio certainly has its ups and downs. On the plus side, we’re centrally located in the Midwest, with most major cities just a day’s drive away. We’re fortunate to host Goodguys Columbus, a heavyweight in the automotive event world, and we also have a great selection of sports teams—Cleveland, Columbus, and Cincinnati are all just a few hours apart.
But with all these sports options, we prefer to spend our summers in our trucks. While Ohio isn’t overflowing with truck-specific events, here at CK Truck Magazine, we decided to do something about that. Based in the heart of the state, near Columbus, we chose Marysville to host our inaugural CK Truck Magazine C10 Breakout. After all the traveling we do throughout the year, we wanted to create an event where we could sleep in our own beds.
Marysville is a great town—it’s home to Scott’s Lawn Care world headquarters and a massive Honda plant. But it’s the September weather that really makes this place shine; it’s some of the best we have all year. The town also has that quintessential small-town feel, with excellent local restaurants and the Union County Fairgrounds tucked right in the city limits. For this event, we had the talented Chris Baker—who’s behind major events like C10 Nationals and C10 Shindig—take the lead. His hard work paid off with top-tier awards, a fantastic venue, and a live concert by country superstar David Lee Murphy after the show.
Before the big day, we kicked off the weekend with a pre-party at Leon’s Garage, one of the coolest bar/restaurants around. Formerly the town’s Napa store, Leon’s has been transformed into a vibrant hangout, complete with live music, delicious food, and cold drinks. It was the perfect way to set the tone for the weekend ahead.
As for the event itself, we were thrilled to see over 300 trucks register, coming from more than 14 states and Canada. Not bad for a first-time show! We handed out 12 custom awards, hosted food trucks, and showcased some great merchandise. And, of course, we had plenty of time to connect with our truck family. The Union County Fairgrounds provided a beautiful setting, with plenty of parking among the rolling hills and mature trees. We saw some familiar trucks from other events but also discovered some fantastic rides we hadn’t seen before.
The feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Attendees enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere, the opportunity to meet new people, and of course, the amazing trucks on display. As the hosts, we might be a bit biased, but we think this event is well worth the visit—and we’re already looking forward to making it bigger and better in 2025.
