The Spring ‘22 edition of the Pro Touring Truck Shootout rolled into Bowling Green, Kentucky’s very own Beech Bend Raceway Park on April 22-23, 2022, and carried on the tradition that Founder, Arnie Gonzalez, has pushed forward since the inaugural event in 2020.
Support from high level suppliers like Gandrud Chevrolet, Summit Racing, Baer Brakes, Forgeline Wheels, Belltech, Rustic Nail, AMD, Vengeance Clutch, and Bowler Transmission, keeps this event ticking and has proven to the world that this segment is here to stay.
The spring installment of PTTS consisted of the 3 segments we’ve become accustomed to seeing: Autocross, Speed & Stop Challenge, and a Drivability Cruise. But this event added an optional drag racing segment to the event, which proved to be fun to watch. 5 competition classes (Outlaw, Manufacturers Class, T1, T2, and Novice) were offered, so there was a spot available for any level of participation.
As a part of the event, the organizers challenge all truck builders to build the “Ultimate Truck”. To compete for this title, a truck must compete in its class in the Autocross event, complete the Drivability Cruise, stop in the Speed & Stop Challenge, show its stuff in the Truck Show, and lay down impressive numbers on the drag strip.
As always, fans and spectators were encouraged to bring out their show trucks, park in the “Truck Show,” and there was a nice turnout for the spring event
