As a midwesterner, springtime weather can be dicey at times. For the Yankees like us, who live north of the Mason-Dixon line, it’s a bit of a ritual to head south at some point during the winter or early spring for a dose of warm weather.
Most of the northern folk tend to migrate to Florida to get their heat on, but some are equally content with the beautiful scenery and earlier spring weather of the Carolinas. Picnic at the Drive organizer, Matt Criswell, is well aware of the allure of that early spring sunshine and decided to move the Upstate South Carolina GM Truck Club’s event to the first weekend of April. And it was all good – the little town of Lyman, South Carolina, was LIT!
While a cool, early morning drizzle forced participants to don their rain ponchos and galoshes, the sun eventually broke through and Mama Nature put on her “Sun’s Out, Guns Out” t-shirt and got the party started.
Hundreds of trucks and spectators poured in during the course of the day and the crowd ate up every ounce of that sunshine. Well done. We can’t wait for the 2024 edition.
